"Fox Glacier site filmed by drone"
Police search and rescue staff, along with Aoraki-Mt Cook Alpine Cliff Rescue and Fox Glacier Alpine Cliff Rescue crews were able to return to Fox Glacier briefly today to resume the recovery operation.
Crews were on the glacier for less than an hour before weather closed in again.
The Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team has remained on the Glacier at Chancellor Hutt.
A joint mission between Police and Transport Accident Investigation Commission to record the scene using a drone was able to be completed during today’s break in the weather.
The ACR team established a route to the helicopter rotor head and fuselage and recovered some evidence from the scene.
Recovery crews remain on standby at Fox Glacier village to resume as soon as the weather breaks again.
