97-year-old woman's bag snatched in Hamilton
Hamilton police are investigating a theft where a 97 year old woman had her handbag snatched from her as she walked away from a bus stop yesterday afternoon.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson of the Hamilton CIB said the victim got off a bus on Wellington St about 3.15pm and had started to walk away from the bus stop when a man grabbed her handbag which caused her to fall to the ground.
The man then fled down Jellicoe Dr with the woman’s handbag.
“This type of attack on such a vulnerable member of the community is unacceptable.
The fact that she only suffered some minor cuts is irrelevant”.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this event or was riding the bus from the City that stopped at Wellington St at this time by contacting us on 07 8586200”.
Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with the independent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
