Victory parade through Capital on Friday
Wellingtonians will get their chance to salute our All Black heroes in a World Cup victory parade through the central city at Friday lunchtime.
Mayor Celia Wade-Brown is encouraging young and old to line the streets this Friday to help Wellington celebrate the World Cup win. People from all around the Wellington region, lower North Island and Top of The South would be most welcome too!
“Wellingtonians and visitors will join together in congratulating the All Blacks on an outstanding World Cup campaign crowned with a magnificent final performance.
“The central city will be bursting at the seams with proud All Blacks fans on Friday lunchtime,” she says.
While full details are still to be confirmed, there will be brief welcome at Parliament grounds at 11.30am, with the parade expected to start just before midday and then head along the Golden Mile to a major welcome in Civic Square.
The All Blacks will leave Parliament at 12 noon into Lambton Quay, then along Willis Street into Mercer Street before arriving in Civic Square between 1 and 1.30pm.
