Investigation into seriously injured child continues
Canterbury Police can confirm that the five year old boy who sustained serious head injuries yesterday (27 May 2015) is in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital.
“The investigation into how the child sustained the serious head injuries is being undertaken by 14 staff led by Canterbury Police CIB. A scene examination will continue at a Papanui address over the coming days and a number of people who came into contact with him are yet to be spoken to by Police. The focus of the investigation is to determine the circumstances and events which led to the child being seriously injured” explained Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Anderson.
Canterbury Police are unable to undertake any media interviews today and no further information will be released tonight.
Another media release will be made as the investigation progresses.
