Bay of Island's UPSURGE Festival is underway!
The UPSURGE Festival 2015 has commenced with the first performance underway by children’s storytelling genius, Tanya Batt. Performing to a sell-out crowd of pre-school and primary school students from around the region, Tanya sets the tone for the next four days of performances that are guaranteed to inspire and delight.
Sally Macauley, Chair of the Bay of Islands Arts Festival Trust, made a short speech to the audience, welcoming everyone warmly and wishing them an enjoyable festival experience.
With sell-out performances at a number of the venues, the response to the Festival has been incredibly positive. The diverse array of shows on offer has enabled a wide cross-section of people from local areas and out of town to participate in the Festival and take the opportunity to see something new.
UPSURGE Festival performers have started arriving in the region, helping to contribute towards the vibrant buzz throughout the festival’s long weekend.
Tickets for some performances are still available and can be booked at The Turner Centre either in person, by phone booking or online atwww.turnercentre.co.nz
