Ohakune Police are appealing for help from the public in locating missing 86-year-old Hotene Koia (also known as Joe) who was last seen at his home in the Pipiriki township on Tuesday 27 January, 2015.
Police was notified late yesterday evening by Mr Koia’s family after they had not heard from him in past days.
Mr Koia suffers from diabetes and is insulin dependent and Police has serious concerns for his health and safety.
He also suffers from dementia and may be visiting places he used to reside in, including the Waipukurau, Palmerston North, and Whanganui areas.
It is believed he left his home in his vehicle which is described as a 1995 two tone red and silver, Nissan Prairie station wagon, registration CNQ806.
Police urge anyone that has had contact with him, or seen him or his vehicle to contact Police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Conrad Smith of the National Park Police on (07) 211 5300.
