"Fatal Crash - Whakamarama - Bay of Plenty"
Emergency services are at the scene of a fatal crash on State Highway 2 at Whakamarama in the Western Bay Of Plenty.
Just before 7:30 pm two trucks and an SUV towing a trailer were involved in a crash on SH2 between Pahoia Rd and Apata
station Road. One person is confirmed dead and three others are injured. Traffic control are being put in place and the
Serious Crash Unit will be investigating.

Further to the fatal crash at Whakamarama: Vehicles involved as follows: Large truck - 1 occupant - to Tauranga Hospital
status 4 (minor injuries) Small truck - 1 occupant - Died at scene. SUV - 5 occupants - all to Tauranga Hospital status
4 (minor injuries) Traffic is being diverted around the crash via Wainui South Road and Esdaile Road. Environment Bay of
Plenty are attending to assist in dealing with a spill of Diesel and Orange Juice from the truck. The road will be
closed for a considerable period whilePolice clear the scene and investigate the cause. Fire service are assisting with
a mobile lighting unit.
