NOTICE OF DAY OF BY-ELECTION - WAIROA DISTRICT COUNCIL
As a result of an extra-ordinary vacancy, notice is given under section 65 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, that the following persons have been duly nominated as candidates for the Wairoa District Council By-Election (one vacancy):
• CAVES, Denys
• DAWSON, Julianna
• EVANS, Dave
• GASKIN, Sean
• HARAKI, Shaun
• HARKER, Jeremy (Independent)
• LEYLAND, Don
• MIHAERE, Trevor Michael
• PRESTON, Gordon (Independent)
• VAN DER MEER, Carl (Independent)
As there are more candidates than vacancies, a by-election will be held between the listed candidates on Tuesday 17 February 2015, under the first past the post electoral system by postal vote.
ISSUING OF VOTING DOCUMENTS
Voting documents will be posted to electors from Tuesday 27 January 2015.
RETURN OF VOTING DOCUMENTS
Voting documents must be returned no later than noon, Tuesday 17 February 2015 to the electoral officer, Wairoa District Council.
Voting documents can be returned by post or hand-delivered to the Wairoa District Council Offices, Coronation Square, Queen Street, Wairoa, betweenTuesday 27 January 2015 and Monday 16 February 2015 during normal office hours, and Tuesday 17 February 2015 until noon.
SPECIAL VOTING
Special voting in terms of the Local Electoral Act 2001 and the Local Electoral Regulations 2001 may be exercised at the above council offices and times or by phoning 0800 922 822 where one will be posted out. A person can apply to enrol as either a residential or ratepayer elector right up to and including 16 February 2015 - the day before the close of voting.
ORDER OF CANDIDATE NAMES ON VOTING DOCUMENTS
Candidate names will appear in alphabetical order on the voting documents pursuant to regulation 31 of the Local Electoral Regulations 2001.
