Save the Money on Staff, Not Services
12 JANUARY 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Reacting to the Fairfax article that Christchurch ratepayers could soon be asked to begin mowing local parks and reserves as Christchurch City Council looks to cut back its maintenance programme, Taxpayers’ Union Executive Jordan Williams says:
“Why do Council trim services rather than focusing on efficiency? Christchurch City Council has the highest employee expenses per ratepayer in New Zealand according to the Ratepayers' Report.”
“Council officials need to look in the mirror and their own inflated pay packets before they fire the gardener.”
