Serious assault in Waikanae
Wellington, 9 December 2014 - Kapiti-Mana Police are investigating the serious assault of an elderly couple in Waikanae. The couple have been assaulted in their home in He Awa Street by an offender or offenders, sometime overnight.
The offenders have stolen their car and Police are appealing to the public for any sightings of a green 1999 Honda Accord, registration YP4339.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ferguson says “This is very concerning attack on an elderly couple in their home, it doesn't get much worse than this. We want to locate the persons responsible as soon as possible and prevent any one else being at risk of harm by them.”
"The couple are currently in hospital undergoing medical treatment and we are hoping they will be able to provide further details about the incident as they recover. They are understandably very shaken by what has occurred."
Anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area or has seen this vehicle should urgently contact the Kapiti-Mana Police on (04) 238 1400. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
