Helicopter crash near Whanganui - Update
Central, 28 October 2014 - Police, Fire and Ambulance remain at the scene of a helicopter crash which occurred this morning at around 9.30am north west of Whanganui.
The male pilot of the helicopter has died at the scene and Police are providing support to the victim's family.
At the time of the crash, the helicopter was being used to complete routine spraying of farm land. No one else was on board the helicopter.
Police are continuing their initial enquires and as this is an on-going investigation, there are no further details that can be provided at this time.
The road will remain closed until further notice and the area cordoned off to allow the scene examination to continue.
Further details regarding the victim are not available.
The Civil Aviation Authority has been informed.
