Alleged skimmers arrested
Two men, one 27 and the other 28, are scheduled to appear in the Auckland District Court tomorrow to face 54 joint charges of using a document (counterfeit ATM cards), nine of obtaining a document and one of possession of implements for forgery.
The arrests were made by staff from Police Financial Crime Units yesterday after a lengthy investigation, which was assisted by Wellington District Police and various banks, into skimming that occurred across the Auckland region between late February and July 2014.
Police allege the offending involved in excess of half a million dollars illegally withdrawn from ATM machines.
