Fatal Crash on State Highway 7, Hurunui
At 6.55am Emergency Services were advised of a vehicle down a bank south of Marble Point on State Highway 7.
When they arrived they found a van approximately 30-40 metres down a bluff in a precarious position. There was one occupant in the vehicle but he was unresponsive.
Fire Service attached ropes from a fire engine and a 4 wheel drive Police vehicle to the crashed vehicle to stop it going further down the bluff. Once the vehicle was stabilised Ambulance crew were able to assess the occupant, however the occupant a 38yr old male was confirmed as deceased.
The name of the deceased will be released once family members have been notified.
