State Highway 5 at Waiotapu near Rotorua closed due to truck crash use alternate route or delay travel
Motorists are advised that the State Highway 5 at Waiotapu south of Rotorua is closed due to a truck crash at the Waiotapu Loop Road intersection. Drivers are advised to use alternate highway routes if travelling between Rotorua and Taupo or to delay travel as long delays are expected, says The NZ Transport Agency.
A detour is in place for southbound traffic (towards Taupo) via SH5, SH30 onto SH1 (via Atiamuri) and for northbound traffic (towards Rotorua) via SH1, SH30 and SH5. At this stage it is unclear when SH5 at Waiotapu will reopen and most likely will be after midday today.
To find out more about this closure please go to http://www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic/current-conditions/highway-info/road/7873/north-island.html or phone the Transport Agency's 0800 4 HIGHWAYS.
The Transport Agency would like to thank motorists for their patience.
