Views sought on plans for K’Road and Newton
Waitematā Local Board wants your views on plans that will guide the future of the Karangahape Road and Newton areas.
The Draft Karangahape Road Plan and Draft Newton Plan, open for consultation until Wednesday 14 May, provide a strategy
and outline proposed actions and projects to transform these areas over the next 30 years.
The plans seek to take advantage of the anticipated growth the proposed City Rail Link stations will bring, while
enhancing the existing character, heritage and vitality of the areas. They will also look at how the business and
residential environments can be developed and improved.
Waitematā Local Board Chair Shale Chambers says the plans are a significant step forward in planning the future of the
city fringe.
“K’Road and Newton are some of Auckland’s most vibrant and exciting areas. We have a unique opportunity to influence how
they will evolve for future generations to enjoy, especially with the benefits the proposed City Rail Link stations will
bring.
“The plans are a starting point for discussions and we encourage you to come along to a drop-in session or go online and
tell us what you think.”
Feedback will be considered before the plans are adopted by the board, expected to be in July 2014.
