New board appointment for Auckland Transport
Auckland Mayor Len Brown has welcomed the appointment of Mark Gilbert to the board of Auckland Transport (AT).
Mark Gilbert will join the AT board on 1 November 2013 following the retirement of Philippa Dunphy.
Mr Gilbert’s appointment was confirmed at Auckland Council’s CCO Strategy Review Subcommittee on 7 August 2013.
“Mark Gilbert has nearly three decades of senior management experience both in New Zealand and globally - a significant part of this experience has been as Chief Executive and he has particularly strong skills in strategy, marketing and communication,” says Len Brown.
Dr Lester Levy, Chair of AT, has also welcomed the appointment of Mark Gilbert.
“Mark Gilbert’s experience with a supply chain that focused on both partners and customers will be a real asset to AT – in our public transport model, our partner organisation’s results impact directly on our own results.
“Mark’s experience in this model as well as his obsessive focus on customer service will greatly assist in the transformation of AT.”
Dr Levy also paid tribute to Philippa Dunphy, saying she has done an outstanding job as both deputy chair and a director.
The council’s CCO Strategy Review Subcommittee is responsible for all board appointments to substantive council-controlled organisations (CCOs).
