Today, as a result of name suppression lapsing, it became public that an ex-employee of Lincoln High School, Assistant
Principal Mr Douglas Martin, was arrested in November and charged with making an intimate visual recording (with a pen
camera). On January 16th Mr Martin pleaded guilty to 20 charges of making an intimate visual recording during June to
November 2012.
Lincoln High School was shocked to hear of the allegations and subsequent arrest, and has co-operated fully with the
Police. The school has notified the Ministry of Education and have followed legal advice throughout.
Principal Linda Tame said she was outraged and angry about Mr Martin’s behaviour.
“It’s an immense breach of trust,” said Mrs Tame. “He was a respected and trusted member of staff so this will clearly
have a significant impact on our students, the school and the wider Lincoln community,” said Mrs Tame.
“Support for Lincoln High School students, and the school’s community and staff are the most important things right
now,” said Mrs Tame.
Lincoln High School has put in place a number of welfare initiatives to ensure that should anyone need support it is
readily available via the school.
The school has notified all parents and the Police have advised that they have contacted the victims able to be
identified.
Mr Martin has been suspended from his job since his arrest and has not been permitted on the school grounds. The Board
of Trustees accepted his resignation, with immediate effect, on January 24th. He is no longer employed by Lincoln High
School.
