Charges laid over Port Hills complaints
Christchurch Police have charged a man with indecent assault in relation to complaints of inappropriate behaviour in the Port Hills area.
Detective Constable Fiona Croft says Police yesterday laid 10 charges of indecent assault against a 63-year old Christchurch man at a first court appearance.
The man was remanded on bail and is to reappear in the Christchurch District Court on Monday 11 February. His name is suppressed.
The majority of the alleged offences took place between August last year and earlier in January this year, but one complaint dates back to 2010.
Detective Constable Croft says Police are continuing to talk to a number of complainants, and further charges are possible.
Police expressed thanks to the public and the news media for their response to calls for information about the alleged offender.
