Pedestrian struck by train
A man is confirmed dead after being struck by a train in Palmerston North this morning.
The male, aged in his 40’s, was on railway tracks directly below the Gillespies Line over bridge when he was hit by a northbound freight train just after 3 am.
It is unclear if he had been walking on the tracks or possibly fallen from the over bridge.
His identity is yet to be confirmed however Police are following lines of inquiry and hope to be able to release details later on today.
