Fun day on Saturday celebrates Rotorua's Western Heights community
ROTORUA 05.12.12: Rotorua District Council (RDC) and local service organisations have been working together to organise a fun event this month for the Western Heights community.
Western Heights Community Day is happening on Saturday 8 December from 10am to 3pm at the Park Road Youth Space and everyone is invited to join in.
RDC youth projects officer Jill Campbell says the event promises to be fun-filled and entertaining to celebrate what a great community exists at Western Heights.
“The community day will be a entertaining fun outing for the whole whanau, where people can gain information on services available in their area and find out ways to get involved in their community.
“Another big part of the day is to encourage neighbours to get to know each other and to utilise the recent upgrade to facilities on Park Rd Reserve.”
Mrs Campbell says the day’s events will include food stalls, children’s activities, Youth Top Town, skate boarding demos, free health checks, music, police dog show, fire trucks and a free sausage sizzle.
She says there will also be opportunities to see what’s on offer in Western Heights, a community feedback booth, and volunteer and leadership roles for people to play.
