Investigation launched into possible hit and run
Christchurch Police are investigating a possible hit and run after an injured man was found this morning in a driveway in the Russley area.
Police say a person out walking came across an injured man at around 6.30 this morning in the driveway of a home on Yaldhurst Road, between Fovant St and Cutts Rd.
Police says the man has suffered serious head injuries. Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Hill says it is too early to confirm how the man received the injuries but police are treating the incident as a possible hit and run.
The man is described as being in his mid-40s, with short red hair, a goatee beard and tattoos.
"We are appealing urgently for anyone who may have seen this man, or any unusual activity, in the Yaldhurst Road area near Riccarton Racecourse, overnight or this morning," says Detective Senior Sergeant Hill.
The injured man is in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital.
Police do not believe the injured man is associated with the address at which he was found.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Christchurch police on (03) 3637400.
Alternatively, to provide information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
