Prepare a feast for the senses – Blind!
Fancy a tour through the smell, textures and tastes of fine dining and are not scared of the dark? Then the Blind Dining
Experience at Wellington’s Shed 5 restaurant could be for you.
On Friday July 13 Wellingtonians will venture into a unique sensory experience for charity.
A special blind dining event will be held at the famous Wellington waterfront restaurant Shed 5 to raise money for cbm,
an international aid organisation dedicated to working with persons with disabilities in the world’s poorest countries.
Darren Ward, cbm National Director, says: “Being without sight for the evening will give diners a unique perspective on
what it is like to live with a life-altering disability.”
Shed 5 is co-owned by the celebrity chef Simon Gault, the special menu is designed by Shed 5’s acclaimed head-chef Geoff
Ngan.
Mr Gault says “I am honoured to be able to support cbm and bring awareness to their work such as their Child Sponsorship
programmes. It’s a fantastic charity and I know Wellington will get behind this worthwhile and exciting event and show
their support.”
Diners will be blindfolded on entry to Shed 5 and will have no prior knowledge of the dishes or beverages on the special
menu.
Mr Ward says: “cbm is immensely grateful to Mr Gault and the team at Shed 5 for donating their time and energy to raise
funds and awareness for cbm’s work.”
cbm’s Child Sponsorship programme’s focus is on supporting and educating children living with a disability and poverty.
The money raised from the charity event will go towards stopping disabled children’s needless suffering in the poorest
areas of Africa, Asia, South America and the Pacific.
The event will take place at Shed 5, located at Queens Wharf, on Friday 13 July. Tickets are priced at $125.00 per
person, which includes a set four course meal with matching wine for each course and a $50 donation to the charity.
Te Hana, Wither Hills and Corbans vineyards will be donating all the wine towards the event.
