UK expert in NZ to encourage Kiwis to buy more flowers
After several successful campaigns designed to encourage the British public to buy more flowers, more often, for year
round enjoyment rather than just for special occasions, the most recent campaign from Andrea Caldecourt (pictured) in
her role as CEO of the UK’s Flowers & Plants Association, was designed to assure flower buyers that flowers are fast, fashionable and fun to arrange and
enjoy.
This month Andrea Caldecourt is in New Zealand to share her horticultural marketing successes with the New Zealand
flower industry. During a whirlwind trip to Auckland in July, Ms Caldecourt will meet with media, New Zealand flower
growers, florist, retailers and interested public.
The National Flower Promotion Group is hosting Ms Caldecourt while she is in New Zealand. United Flower Grower’s
Managing Director Bruce O’Brien is looking forward to learning more about the phenomenal campaign success enjoyed by
Flowers & Plants Association, campaigns that have returned up to £136:£1 in recent years.
“Andrea and her team achieved extraordinary results through clever advertising campaigns on radio and television,
through seminars and workshops, on websites, in social media and through consumer events.” says Mr O’Brien. “This
activity has increased public awareness about the many benefits of fresh flowers. While the campaigns were aimed at all
retail sectors, Andrea witnessed supermarkets increase market share by a whopping 70%.”
Ms Caldecourt has played a pivotal role in a team that's won many RHS medals at Hampton Court Flower Shows and
Gardeners' World Live, including golds and two ‘Best in Show’. She has also spoken at the Chelsea Flower Show three
times.
