Early Bird Tickets On Sale Until 30 June
Auckland Art Fair, showcasing cutting edge artworks by some of the most sought after contemporary artists in Australia and New Zealand, is extending its offer of Early Bird and VIP Collectors' Packages until the end of June to encourage patrons to secure their tickets well before the August 4-7 event.
"This fair will be our biggest and best yet with forty of Australasia's top galleries exhibiting for sale some very desirable, challenging and thought provoking work that will get people talking," says Art Fair Director Jennifer Buckley. "There's a wonderful mix of artists this time - from household names, some of whom are no strangers to controversy, right through to newcomers who you may not know now but will be hearing a lot more of in coming years."
Highlights of the biennial fair, the first big event to be hosted at the nearly completed Viaduct Events Centre, include the glittering Vernissage opening, with Jennifer Ward-Lealand as MC, the public lecture by New York man about town and doyen of the international art scene, Knight Landesman, the publisher of Artforum, and a dynamic public programme of lectures, storytelling, tours and artist and gallery talks.
Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the fair which is geared not only for collectors and practiced art lovers but for newcomers who want to learn about art, meet gallery owners and artists and see original work all under one roof.
