2degrees Christchurch network – if it’s important, call
Significant progress in restoring mobile services on the 2degrees Christchurch network means customers there can now use their mobile phones.
Chief Executive Eric Hertz says Christchurch service is available, so people who have held off using their mobile can now make those important calls.
“We have generators and battery backup supporting all cell sites, although aftershocks and fluctuations in power supply mean coverage may vary, especially in the CBD,” he says.
“We’d like to thank customers who refrained from using their mobile for non-essential calls and let them knowthey can now make long awaited calls to friends and loved ones,” says Mr Hertz.
Mr Hertz says the earthquake means the 2degrees network has experienced heavier than normal traffic, so if customers experience congestion they should keep trying.
