Drug Raids On The North Shore
North Shore Police have arrested twelve persons in suburban drug raids.
Detective Sergeant James Watson of the Crime Control Unit says six search warrants were executed and a large quantity of drugs, several firearms, and an amount of cash seized at locations in Northcote, Glenfield and Greenhithe.
Ten males and two females are facing numerous drugs charges including possession and manufacturing of the Class A drug methamphetamine, possession and cultivation of Cannabis for supply, and possession of firearms. Several arrests were made at a Clan Lab operation in Glenfield.
“Whenever the public see any unusual activity at any residential or rural properties we want them to call us. Our focus is on houses where drugs are manufactured and the public can play an important role for Police by being alert to any suspicious activity that may be happening in their immediate neighbourhood,” Detective Sergeant Watson said.
“Clan labs are inherently dangerous to occupants and the nearby public. We do appreciate the valuable information that we receive from the public.”
“The success of these most recent raids is a result of good intelligence from the public and some tenacious policing by the specialist Crime Control Unit.”
“If any members of the public smell cannabis or chemicals they believe are linked to the manufacture of methamphetamine, they can call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111,” Detective Sergeant James Watson said.
The twelve individuals arrested and charged have already appeared in Court. Further appearances are scheduled early in January 2010.
