Title: District Commander comment on Nathan Connolly decision
Superintendent Dave Cliff, District Commander, Canterbury
Re; Nathan Connolly verdict
It is always disappointing when a person in a position of trust, abuses that trust with the public and their work colleagues.
A police officer is treated no differently to a member of the public in a situation such as this.
A Criminal investigation and Professional Standards Investigation were begun however the Professional Standards Investigation was terminated when Nathan Connolly resigned of his own volition.
A robust investigation has been undertaken and I can offer no other comment at this point as sentencing has not taken place.
Mr Connolly joined police in November 2003 and resigned in December 2008.
