Elderly man missing in Whangamata overnight
A Hamilton based Police search and rescue team is currently on its way to assist in the search for an elderly man who went missing in the Coromandel overnight.
Sergeant Phil Bell of the Waikato SAR team said Alfred John CRIBB, 82, went to bed in his unit at a retirement village on Campbell Close in Whangamata about 11.30pm.
"His partner woke up about 2.30pm to find him missing and local Police and neighbours commenced a search for him which we are heading over to assist with.
"Alfred is more commonly known as 'Jack' and has an existing medical condition that he requires medication for," said Mr Bell.
Anyone who sees an elderly person who appears to be distressed or lost in or around Whangamata is asked to contact the Whangamata Police Station on 07 8650300.
