A New Zealand First - The Biggest Real Christmas Tree
Christmas is only a matter of weeks away, and Derek Bray of Natural Expressions has come up with a novel idea to raise funds for a local charity and bring some real Christmas spirit into the City.
Mr Bray has what is purported to be the largest living Real Christmas Tree and is offering this to corporates as a way for them to show their support for local a charity working in the community.
Mr Bray said ““After 15 years of working like Santa’s little helpers this tree has become an outstanding expression of nature. Let’s just say that growing trees such as these is a little more complex than just having fertile soil,” Bray says.
Bray hopes that the authentic pine tree will be displayed somewhere in the public eye over the Christmas period for people to enjoy, such as a retail complex or somewhere like apex of the Town Hall.
“People always get a thrill from the fragrance and shape of natural Christmas trees so this gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy this on a grand scale”
Bray started selling Christmas trees on the side of the road when he was a student to pay back his tuition fees. He is now passionate about letting “nature say it for you” with his business Natural Expressions growing Christmas trees into an art form as well as delivering organic gifts which are biodegradable.
“I think our natural, specially-grown trees will continue to increase in popularity given all the recent talk of global warming and genetic engineering. The more demand, the more we can improve our carbon footprint as a country,” Bray says.
We’ve all heard over the last few years how few festive decorations are displayed in the City, this is one way we can all work together to bring some real Christmas feel into the heart of the city.
With only eight weeks until Christmas Derek and his team will have their work cut out finding a home for the tree.
Derek would be keen to hear from anyone who can help find a home for the tree.
