The Mt Eden Village Mainstreet Business Association present:
MT EDEN VILLAGE FETE
THE VILLAGE EMBRACES STREET-LIFE SPIRIT
Come out into the sunshine and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells on the street in the Mt Eden Village Fete, Saturday 4th April.
The heart of Mt Eden village will offer something for young and old alike in its first street market packed with delicious food and drink, eclectic music, and plenty of entertainment from 11-4pm. Ngauruhoe Street dressed in Fete-like garb will be closed to traffic, allowing public to flow through on the last weekend before daylight savings begins.
With around 50 businesses getting involved this year, the Village Fete is set to be a regular highlight on the Mt Eden calendar, as shopkeepers set up stalls with specially priced sale goods for the event. Participating food-sellers will also line the street with a good deal of fresh and tempting food on offer – Ross’s Meats will be firing up the barbeque while the Mt Eden Fish Shop brings out fish kebabs, skewers, and salmon and aioli on bread. De Post will serve up irresistible Belgium fries and free samples, as the Village Winery puts on wine tastings from their unique range.
A variety of musicians will perform over the afternoon along the shop fronts. Expect to hear an array of exotic sounds from Dixie Jazz to Sitar to Tabla, and even a little bit of Island drumming. Entertainment along the street takes the shape of three decadently dressed rooms which will be created especially for the Village Fete, each with their own vibrant Host. These comparatively different zones - a Samoan fale, English drawing room, and a Turkish Hookah room - will become welcoming places where people are invited to take a break from the hubbub and be entertained.
Set to delight, enjoy all that’s on offer at the Mt Eden Village Fete Saturday 4th April 11-4pm.
