City Vision candidate selected for Eden-Albert Community Board by-election
City Vision supporters from the Eden-Albert ward have confirmed local lawyer Simon Mitchell as the City Vision candidate for the Eden-Albert Community Board by-election to be held from mid-March to 9 April this year.
Simon is a resident of the Eden-Albert ward where he has lived for 18 years.  Simon is a family and employment law barrister from Mt Eden.  He and his wife have three sons and Simon is an elected parent representative on the Balmoral School Board of Trustees.
Simon is excited about the chance to stand for City Vision in the by-election for the Eden-Albert Community Board.  "I am interested in a whole range of issues important to our communities - better public transport; more parks for locals; keeping rates affordable for families; making sure our volcanic cones of Owairaka and Maungawhau are both protected and restored in a way that enhances their place in our community.
"We all want to have a safe and vibrant community to live in and I will work hard to ensure we do.
"I am dedicated to making sure the tunnel option goes ahead rather than the mowing down houses and parks for State Highway 20.
"We have large redevelopments like St Lukes shopping centre and Eden Park on the horizon and they need to have as small an impact on the community and environment as possible.  Developments like Balmoral McDonalds are not wanted by our community and I will do all I can to stop it.  The Rugby World Cup shouldn't necessitate pulling down heritage homes and I am opposed to the link lane that isn't needed."
Christopher Dempsey, City Vision Eden-Albert Community Board Chair, is thrilled to have someone as capable and experienced as Simon running as part of the team.
"We currently have a committed and competent City Vision team working hard for Eden-Albert and we hope that the community will support Simon to make our team stronger."
