Community Soccer to kick off in Churton Park
Passion for football and concern for young people have been the driving forces behind a new youth initiative in Churton Park. College and Intermediate aged young people are being invited to join a monthly football tournament to be held at Churton Park school starting next year.
The initiative is being run under the auspices of the Churton Park Community Association. Local youth worker, Pete Watson, is organising the tournament in conjunction with other community volunteers: Jason Reed, Alastair Holmes, and Roger Ellis.
“We have a lot of young people in our community and this is one way to encourage them to get involved and to join in a fun sport. We hope this initiative will help promote football among young people and will be a fun way for them to be outdoors, improve fitness and socialise with others” says Mr Watson.
Interested young people are invited to register by emailing Pete Watson at youth@cpac.org.nz.
