Wellington Police have received further reports of suspicious mail items purporting to contain 1080 poison.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Borrell, Wellington CIB, said police are now aware of 12 similar letters. Eight were received by government agencies, officials or businesses, some with a conservation theme, in the Nelson area and four in Wellington.
The items are believed to be linked and part of the same posting.
"Some people are now only opening mail which was delivered a few days ago and reporting letters to us," Detective Senior Sergeant Borrell said.
Police are not prepared to comment on the specific detail of the investigation.
