Auckland , 17th April - MySpace.com today announced that one of New Zealand’s most promising acts Collapsing Cities will present a FREE MySpace Secret Show at an undisclosed location on Thursday April 24th. This exclusive gig will give a handful of Aucklanders the opportunity to experience Collapsing Cities’ premier indie pop in an intimate setting.
Collapsing Cities’ sound harks back to a time when seminal albums were recorded in dingy basements and Dunedin was the Mecca for any self respecting Kiwi Guitarist. They recall the heady days of Pavement, the nostalgic sounds of Joy Division, but with a present-day twist echoed in their infectious dance floor rhythms, and honest lyrics about modern life. The winners of last year’s bnet award for most promising act, the band present this final show on home soil just before they embark on a tour of the UK where the group has hooked up with SuperVision Management (Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand) and have a tour diary that includes an NME show, and the Levi’s Ones To Watch tour. The bands debut album ‘Elixir Airways’ is out now on their own Pastel Pistol label through Universal Music.
MySpace Secret Shows are exclusive concerts held throughout New Zealand featuring some of the biggest international and local artists. The only way MySpace users can find out specific details about this and future concerts is by adding Secret Shows as a ‘friend’ to their profile via www.myspace.com/secretshowsnz. Entry is strictly limited on a first come first served basis. Past MySpace Secret Shows in New Zealand have included Evermore, Elemeno P and The Checks.
