Global Voters Nominate Auckland Into Wild Card Top 20!
Only Six Days Left for Auckland City to Make the Vote for One of the Two Wild Card Spaces on the World Monopoly Board!
The votes have been flooding in to find the world’s greatest cities, with over a million people taking part in the worldwide poll for the Monopoly World Editon.
Queenstown was among the 68 pre-selected nominees vying for the top twenty spaces on the board, for which the voting closed on February 29. It won’t be known until August if Queenstown made the cut so now its Auckland’s chance to get New Zealand a spot on the world’s most frequently played board game.
While the fate of the top twenty places has been sealed there is now an opportunity to give Auckland and New Zealand the worldwide status it deserves – providing it has the full backing of its supporters! Two spaces on the new board have been reserved for cities such as Auckland that have been nominated for the Wild Card vote.
The Wild Card voting runs from February 29th – March 10th 2008, and MONOPOLY fans can vote for Auckland, once per day on www.monopoly.co.nz. Voters are encouraged to cast their ballots daily during the Wild Card vote, as that will increase the chance of winning a coveted Wild Card space. Spread the word – every vote counts!
The MONOPOLY World Edition game – the first of its kind – is to be released later this year.
