General Manager Appointed – Janet Takarangi
Hawke’s Bay Inc, the economic development and tourism agency for the Hawke’s Bay region, has appointed Janet Takarangi as their new General Manager. She starts on 17 March.
Janet has extensive experience in regional economic development including tourism project work. She is known to regional businesses, regional agencies and local and central government through her previous role as Regional Manager for New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, based in Napier.
Ross Bramwell, Chair of Hawke’s Bay Inc said that he, the Hawke’s Bay Board and Hawke’s Bay Regional Council were very pleased to appoint Janet to the position.
“We are very fortunate to be able to have a person with her experience and background knowledge of the region which will enable Hawke’s Bay Inc to progress the activities in the regional economic development strategy.”
Hawke’s Bay Inc staff are working on some large scale projects including Apple Futures with the Pipfruit industry in Hawke’s Bay, Nelson and Otago, as well as a project addressing labour and skills in the agricultural sector which is a joint venture with other east coast regions, including Tairawhiti (Gisborne), Wairarapa and Tararua.
“There is much to do in securing inwards investment for the region for regional development opportunities and in working closer with others, such as the Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce, to ensure that the Hawke’s Bay region, from Wairoa to Central Hawke’s Bay, is well resourced and supported for both domestic and export based growth,” Mr Bramwell said.
