Newtown Library getting a bit of a makeover
Users of the popular Newtown Library will soon be seeing some changes. The library will be getting a much-needed upgrade, with new carpet and interior paint, to make it brighter and fresher.
In order to get the upgrade work done, the library will be closed on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 February.
Acting Libraries Manager, John Stears, says that the work has been planned for a while. “As with any valuable community asset that gets used a lot, the wear and tear starts to show after a while. The new carpet and paint will improve the library and make it even more attractive for our many users.”
“We ask that people are patient while the library is closed. It’s going to be worth the wait.”
While the library is closed, users can return books through the after-hours slot. Reserved items due for collection during this time will be held until the library reopens.
The work also means that the Council’s Service Centre at the library will be closed. There are other Service Centres at the Kilbirnie Library and at the Council’s offices on Wakefield Street.
The made-over Newtown Library will re-open on Monday 4 February at 10am for normal opening hours.
