One Lane Closed On SH1 In Waiouru

Incident Type: One lane closed on SH1 in Waiouru
On SH1 about 500 metres north of Waiouru, there will be one lane closed while a truck is pulled back onto the road. The road should be fully open by 1pm. The circumstances of the accident are as follows:
At about 1am this morning a Truck and Trailer travelling north on SH1 drove into a ditch after avoiding 2 people walking in the middle of the road (SH1). The accident scene was just north of Waiouru near the entrance to the Waiouru Army Camp. No one was hurt in the accident but the truck could not be towed out until this morning.
The accident is being investigated and it is unknown at this stage if any charges will be laid against the driver or the people that were on the road.
