A body, believed to be that of Dr Geoffrey Martin Wallace, has just been located in the Whangärei Harbour.
The body was found on Snake Bank by a helicopter that was involved in a private search organised by Dr Wallace's family.
The Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter and the Coastguard are on their way to the scene to retrieve the body.
The 46-year-old eye specialist went missing on Wednesday October 24 after he left a marina at One Tree Point in the late afternoon in a 2.5 metre aluminium dinghy with small outboard on the back.
