Storm Update, noon

Published: Wed 11 Jul 2007 12:44 AM
As at 12pm, please find below an update on the storm situation in Rodney.
Overview:
- Road crews are on site clearing road blockages.
- Some roads will be operating on single lane access and there is still debris on many roads so drivers are encouraged to use extreme care
- We have no reports of major injury, damage or flooding to date in Rodney
Power:
Widespread power outages are still occurring throughout the district. Vector are working hard to restore power across the region, but must prioritise safety issues over repairs.
Roading:
The following roads remain closed–primarily due to fallen trees and/or power lines. There are still over 70 trees down that have power lines in them and a further 200 trees down all over the district. Our contractors have worked throughout the night to clear as many roads as possible and have moved trees to the side of the road and will arrange for their removal over the next few days. At present our priority is to keep roads cleared for traffic.
