KAWARAU JET LOCAL’S DAY
The Kawarau Jet Locals’ Day to be held lakeside in downtown Queenstown is to celebrate 47 years operation of the world’s first commercial jetboat company and original adventure tourism company, Kawarau Jet.
Displays will include the original jetboat which took paying customers for spins down the river in the 1960’s right through to the newly refurbished modern boats which feature state-of-the-art comforts and safety features and the Kawarau Jet race boat.
The locals’ day is planned for Saturday 16th December and promises to be a fun family day out which will also raise funds for the Bruce Grant Youth Trust.
Kawarau Jet Director Andrew Brinsley says the event is to celebrate the longevity, experience and capability of one of Queenstown’s first adventure activities. It is also to raise funds and awareness for a very worthy local charity.
“Kawarau Jet has been in local ownership ever since it began operating a jet service in December 1960. The Bruce Grant Youth Trust raises funds for the youth of this community. For many past recipients, this trust has allowed them to follow dreams and realise their potential and Kawarau Jet is very keen to ensure the trust continues to have the funds to distribute.”
Activities on the day start at 9.00am. Specially priced Kawarau Jet trips are on offer at $50 per adult and $35 per child with $10 from each trip going to the Bruce Grant Trust.
Tours of the Underwater Observatory are free to all those who take a Kawarau Jet trip and available by gold coin to all others. The donation will also benefit the Trust.
Kawarau Jet has a long history of benefiting charity; when it was originally established all profits went to financing the establishment of the Lakeland Christian Camp. This year the Camp will continue to benefit.
