Hastings considers Blue Flag eco-label
Hastings District Council is inviting representatives of all Hawke’s Bay councils, as well as members of several interest groups, to attend a presentation about the Blue Flag organisation, on Friday 24 November.
Blue Flag is a widely recognised international programme which works towards sustainable development at beaches and marinas.
Blue Flag is an eco-label awarded to over 3200 beaches and marinas in 36 countries including Europe, Morocco and the Caribbean. There is only one Blue Flag site in New Zealand: Westhaven Marina in Auckland.
Rob Acton, Blue Flag’s New Zealand Chairman, and Allan Woods, Chief Executive of Environmental Campaigns which organises Blue Flag in the United Kingdom, will speak at the session hosted by Mayor Lawrence Yule.
