CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 14 October until Thursday 19 October
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Monday 16 until Thursday 19 October - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway (SH1) between Symonds/Wellesley/Port off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp northbound
Tuesday 17 until Thursday 19 October - CLOSED - overnight from 9.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway (SH1) between Fanshawe St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp southbound
Ramp and link closures:
Saturday 14 until Monday 16 October - CLOSED - over the weekend from 7am on Saturday until 5am on Monday:
. Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) link westbound including Wellesley St on-ramp
Sunday 15 until Thursday 19 October - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Port link eastbound
. Northwestern Motorway (SH16 to SH1 link) southbound
Sunday 15 until Thursday 19 October - CLOSED - overnight from 8.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Western Springs on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound
Sunday 15 until Thursday 19 October - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 link) westbound
Monday 16 until Thursday 19 October - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Southern Motorway (SH1) city bound to Nelson St off-ramp
Monday 16 until Thursday 19 October - CLOSED - overnight from 8.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Newton Rd on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound
Tuesday 17 until Thursday 19 October - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
. Wellington St on-ramp northbound to Southern Motorway (SH1)
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.
The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.
The Public Information Centre at 13-19 Howe St, Freemans Bay is no longer open on a regular basis. Any member of the public who has concerns about or wishes to discuss aspects of the project may make an appointment by phoning 0800 CMJ CORE (0800 265 2673).
