Taser Used On Teenager
Taser Discharge, Friday 8th September 2006.
An 18 year old Western Springs labourer is before the Courts on charges of assault with a weapon, threatening to kill, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of a knife following incidents at two addresses in a Western Springs street at about 8.00 pm last night, Friday 9th September 2006.
A taser was used to disarm and arrest the man. He suffered only minor lacerations from probe contact and no injuries from the fall or arrest, but nevertheless was later seen by a Doctor at the Police Station in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures for Taser.
Detectives attended at the scene to assist with the investigation into the events that resulted in Police being called. The use of the Taser has been investigated by a Supervising Police NCO and was found to have been appropriate.
Detective Inspector Bernie Hollewand said no further comment could be made publicly because the matter was now sub judice.
