Community Board distributes funds widely
As the end of financial year approaches the Tamaki Community Board are looking back on their achievements. Part of the success of the board for this year is the distribution of the boards Events and Discretionary funding for the year.
Although the pool of money is relatively small Events ($11,000) and Discretionary ($20,000) we can still make a real difference to community groups in the area.said Tamaki Community Board Chairperson Kate Sutton
We have funded the Panmure Basin Funday, The Anzac day ceremonies at Mt Wellington and Otahuhu as well as the cultural day in Glen Innes. We have helped the Mt Wellington Playcentre purchase toys and also helped the Otahuhu Rovers Rugby League club set up their website amongst other events and grants Sutton continued,
We are thrilled to be able to contribute to the community in this way. As well as these forms of funding the Auckland City Council runs several kinds of grant systems which community groups can apply Sutton finished
Please access information about Auckland City Council grants and funding here http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/council/services/grants/default.asp
We also have the Tamaki Community Advisor Jo Newman who works closely works with the Community board and community groups to make sure groups are applying to the right places so that they can access funds for their activities.
