Transport tips for the Auckland Harbour Festival
Thousands of people are expected at the Viaduct Harbour for the Auckland Harbour Festival from 28 to 30 January.
The best way to get to there is via public transport. There will be buses, trains and ferries running on all three days to the central city.
Check out www.maxx.co.nz and www.fullers.co.nz for your best option.
If you take your car, be prepared for possible delays.
The closest car park is Auckland City's Downtown Car Park where you can park all day for just $8. This rate is available for all three days of Anniversary Weekend.
Traffic restrictions
To ensure the smooth flow of traffic there will be some restrictions in place, especially around the Viaduct Harbour area. Please take note of these if you intend to drive to the festival.
Traffic restrictions include:
entrance to the Viaduct Harbour will be closed to all traffic for the duration of the event
access to Princes Wharf will be restricted for the duration of the event
a 30km an hour speed limit may apply for parts of Halsey Street, Madden Street and Jellicoe Street
parking restrictions will be in place for Halsey Street
certain roads may be closed to assist with traffic flows.
A traffic management plan will be in place and there will be signs and marshals on hand to assist with traffic flow.
