State Highway 20 extensions applauded by Auckland Airport
Auckland International Airport chief executive officer, Don Huse, said that the airport, as well as the people of Auckland, would benefit from the two extensions to State Highway 20 that Transfund today approved funding for.
"The extension of SH20 to Mt Roskill and eventually to the North Western Motorway will provide much improved access to the airport from all parts of the region," he said, "Today's announcement is positive for not only the people who travel out of Auckland International Airport, but those who work here and for the region generally.
"It has long been recognised that Auckland has a roading infrastructure deficiency which these measures and others could go a long way to fix. Auckland International Airport has a facility that will serve the Auckland region - and New Zealand - well into the foreseeable future.
"These improvements to the land transport infrastructure will mean Aucklanders from the North and West will have timely and efficient access to the world-class facility we have here."
The other initiative approved by Transfund was the extension of State Highway 20 towards Manukau and State Highway 1. "This will undoubtedly help improve airport access from the Southern Motorway" Don Huse commented.
