Delays possible at Mana next week
Motorists are being advised to expect overnight delays next week (June 21 – 24) while a new stormwater main is laid
across Mana Esplanade, from Paremata Spa and Pool to Acheron Road.
Although both lanes will be open during the day while the work is carried out, only one lane will operate between 9pm
and 6am. Access to Acheron Road, nearby properties and businesses will be maintained, but is likely to be constricted.
Installation of the pipe will start at 9pm Monday (21) and is expected to be completed at 6am on Friday (25) – weather
permitting.

Editor’s Notes about the SH1 Plimmerton to Paremata Upgrade
The Plimmerton to Paremata Upgrade will ease the traffic congestion that results from vehicles merging from two lanes to
one lane, at both the Paremata Roundabout and Plimmerton Weigh Station.
It is due for completion in July 2005 and includes:
- Constructing a new Paremata Duplicate Bridge, to provide four lanes across the entrance to Pauatahanui Inlet.
- Widening a 1.3 km-long section of State Highway 1 to four lanes between the Plimmerton Weigh Station and just north of
James Street, and building a new roundabout to provide safe and convenient access to the Plimmerton industrial area, the
Plimmerton Domain and James Street.
- Widening the road along Mana Esplanade to allow for high occupancy vehicle (HOV) clearways at peak times and along St
Andrews Road to provide four lanes.
