Purpose-Built Apartment Development Approved for College Street
A $28 million, eight level, purpose-built development is being marketed for the first time this weekend.
The 56 apartment Trinity development on College Street, in Wellington’s inner-city is being undertaken by specialist Wellington property developer Globe Holdings.
Leading architectural practice JASMAX has been responsible for designing the Trinity development. All resource consents have been granted, making way for construction, which is expected to commence later this year. Demolition of the existing building is scheduled to begin within three months.
“Our objective with Trinity was to create a unique high quality apartment development, taking advantage of the inner city location and bringing together innovative design with the highest quality specifications and finishes,” says Andrew Fawcet, Director of Globe Holdings.
“There has been considerable interest from people looking for this type of apartment with seven apartments valued at $3.5 million already sold or under contract. The level of interest shown to date highlights the inherent value in this development.”
Mr Fawcet said that Trinity was appealing to intending owner-occupiers. Construction is expected to be completed and the new owners in residence in 18 months time.
The Trinity building’s design has a unique H configuration to maximise sunlight. Each floor has four three-bedroom apartments and four two-bedroom apartments. All the apartments are generously proportioned with balconies and access to a 140 square metre roof terrace with built-in gas barbeque. The eight penthouse apartments have their own private roof terrace.
Owners of three bedroom apartments have the option of have an entertainment room instead of a third bedroom.
The apartments range in price from $365,000 for a two-bedroom apartment to $665,000 for a three-bedroom penthouse apartment. These prices include a secure undercover on-site car park valued at $30,000 and a storage locker.
The specification for the apartments includes stainless steel gas hobs and electric oven, stainless steel double dish-drawer and range hood, which is externally vented, and a twin tub sink and waste disposal unit. Kitchen and bathroom fittings will be of a similarly high standard, with an Infinity gas hot water system providing instant and endless hot water.
Globe Holdings’ developments have been recognised for the high quality of their design and architecture and have recently won two prestigious awards: the ‘NZIA 2003 Wellington Urban Design Award’ for The Waterfront Seatoun development; and the ‘NZIA Resene Local Award for Architecture in Multiple Housing for the Inner City’ Croxley Mills apartments on Frederick Street, Wellington.
Globe Holdings has undertaken a number of Wellington developments including Dorset Cove in Seatoun; Croxley Mills on Frederick Street; and Salamanca apartments in Kelburn. The company was also responsible for The Lofts and The Hub apartments on Victoria Street, and The Tea Store, on nearby Egmont Street.
Other current Globe Holdings developments include Latitude 41, a waterfront development on Nelson’s Wakefield Quay; Coburg in Remuera, Auckland; The Summit, an apartment development on Molesworth Street in Thorndon, Wellington; The Waterfront Seatoun; and West Quay at Port Ahuriri, Napier.
JASMAX, the architectural and interior design practice that were chosen for Trinity, have received many prestigious awards for their commercial, residential and public buildings. These include the Congreve House, named as NBR’s House of the Decade and the recent NZ Institute of Architecture National Award for The Mariri House, Wellington. Alistair Luke from JASMAX’s Wellington design studio has designed Trinity.
Dave Elborn of Globe Holdings is marketing the Trinity apartments in conjunction with Leaders Real Estate.
“This development brings quality purpose-built apartments to the inner city. It meets the requirements of people who may have wanted to move from a larger home in the suburbs into the city, but have not been able to find a suitable apartment with the features they were looking for,” Mr Fawcet said.
