Events industry seminar on next week
The latest in the Christchurch City Council’s popular series of low-cost seminars aimed at people in the events industry is being held on Wednesday, 11 February.
The presentation will be made by Arthur Klap, the organiser of last year’s World Triathlon Championships in Queenstown. The championships had a $2.5 million budget, 600 volunteers, 1770 competitors from around the world, an equal number of supporters and team management, full road closures for a total of 24 hours, and six hours of live television coverage.
Mr Klap will concentrate on what the event taught him about event management and how that translates to other events -- management systems, personnel management, volunteer management and planning.
The City Council is still taking bookings for Mr Klap’s 11 February seminar. It will be at the Millennium hotel from 4- 6pm. The seminar costs $10, students $5. Phone 941 8383. Everyone who's interested is welcome but places are limited.
